Saliva: not the usual topic of everyday conversations perhaps because of its somewhat “yuck” factor and it’s something that people tend to take for granted. However, when an individual cannot produce sufficient quantities, it results to various auto-immune disorders (in particular Sjögren’s Syndrome) from medication usage (of which over 1000 are associated with dryness). It can also be a result of HIV/AIDs, or having been treated with immuno- or radiation therapy for head-and-neck cancers that ultimately leads to DRY MOUTH. Having a dry mouth brings devastating effects to the quality of life including a unique characteristic of dental decay (dissimilar to that associated with decay from excess sweets or neglect of good oral hygiene); difficulty speaking, eating, swallowing, and tasting; and compromised oral health.
This is where I come in. As a Prosthodontist, I am a specialist who replaces missing teeth or other oro-facial components in the form of crowns, bridges, partial and complete dentures, as well as implants. As an Immunologist, my research focus is on various treatments and preventive measures associated with dry mouth, also known as xerostomia and/or hyposalivation.
As you may have noticed, I tend to “hoard” letters after my name; always learning. In addition to being on the Medical Advisory Board of the Sjögren’s Society of Canada, I am a part of their Board of Directors as well. I am delighted to be part of the dental team at The Accolade Dental Centre. If I may be of any assistance to you, please let me know. I’m here to listen and to help.
I’ve been a hygienist for over 28 years and have been with Dr. Slome for last 19 years. I love interacting with my patients, helping them maintain their oral health. I really appreciate the fact that I am given the time to treat my patients with the utmost care.
I enjoy visiting Barbados’, spending time with my family and grandson. My favorite dream man is Denzel Washington as most people know.
I have been with The Accolade Dental Centre for almost years. after having been a patient of Dr. Slome’s. I love seeing my patients healthy and happy. I enjoy getting to know each one of them and giving them personalized service encouraged at The Accolade Dental Centre.
After graduating from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C.., I decided to go into dental hygiene, graduating from Vancouver Community College with a 3 year degree completion diploma in Dental Hygiene. I have been a hygienist since 2001 and absolutely love what I do.
My passions are running and my daughter and son.
I joined The Accolade Dental Centre in 2007 as a hygienist. I moved to Canada from Venezuela where I graduated as a dentist. I first worked in Canada as a dental assistant before getting my dental hygiene license. While continuing to work towards getting my Canadian Dental license I have become a expanded duties dental hygienist ( which allows me to place filling and many other duties to assist the dentists) as well as a denturist. I appreciate that at The Accolade Dental Centre I am able to utilize my skills.
Although the newest member to join the team at The Accolade Dental Centre, I have been in the dental field for the past 15 years and have been working as a hygienist for the past 7 years. I believe in making sure that all clients have a comfortable and pleasant experience. I look forward to meeting you and hope to have the privilege of keeping your smile healthy and beautiful.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling and spending time with my friends and family.
I’ve been working with Dr. Slome since 2001 as one of his treatment coordinators and consider it a great privilege! I am a qualified dental assistant and love interacting with my patients. I enjoy helping our patients and getting to know them.
On my days off I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and two beautiful children as well as camping with friends and family.
I have been working with Dr Slome since he started practicing in Toronto 21 years ago and The Accolade feels like my second home. I work as Dr. Slome’s treatment coordinator and I am extremely happy to be a part of his team. I love being in the dental field and especially enjoy working with Dr. Slome when he does cosmetic cases.
When I’m not at work, my focus is my husband and my daughter (who is the light of my life). I enjoy traveling and do so whenever possible (even in my dreams)
I’ve been in the dental field for almost 38 years and have thoroughly enjoyed working with our practice and patients in this field. Being a workaholic has paid off as it has taught me various aspects of the dental field. Years ago, starting as a dental assistant then a receptionist and running an office really paid off. Over the past several years my role evolved into the Marketing Manager for the Accolade Dental Centre.
During my sparetime l enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with my family including my dog Joey.
I have been in the dental field for over 15 years and have loved every minute of it! Being part of transforming smiles and creating a positive and friendly atmosphere has always been a passion of mine. Apart of dental operations and ensuring a smooth and wonderful experience for every individual who walks through our doors, I love to travel (a lot!), winter and summer sports, cooking and eating, and spending time with friends and family.
